In December Aaron (our 12 year old son) started looking for a VW Karmann Ghia. I'm not
really sure where the interest in them came from, but it was not going to go away anytime
soon.
He spent hours and hours on the internet researching them. He also spent hours on Ebay
looking for and pricing them.
One day while on our way to a local country junkyard Aaron spotted a Ghia along the road
for sale. We stopped and looked at it and it was rough! No motor but lots of rust. Asking
price for this engineering marvel was $300.00. We wrote the number down and headed
home to save our pennies.
After a month or so Diane and I drove back by and the car was there but the sign was gone.
The Owner was outside so I stopped in to talk to him about it. He told me that he had made
a deal for the car but the buyer never came back. I offered him $200.00 for it and he
accepted and agreed to deliver it to us. Another project is born!!!
